Ryobi 40V push mower, string trimmer, and blower unboxing and test
We decided our gas mower was toast and it was time for an upgrade, so we picked up the Ryobi 40V brushless push mower. We also figured it was also a good time to also replace our corded string trimmer and blower with the Ryobi combo pack in the same battery ecosystem. Video includes unboxings, why we went 40V instead of 18V for Ryobi, assembly of the tools, and first tests along with noise tests. I also finish up with a pros and cons review.
Really liking the tools so far - they make quick work of our yard!

      Yeah, we were heavily leaning to the 7.4 too, but it just doesn't get the same deals as the 7.0. That was one of the big reasons we decided to go with the 7, we couldn't justify that the differences were worth that much.

    Great video! How has the Gazebo kept up so far and during winter? Would you get it again and over the wooden one the Costco carries?

    • @BGRFamily
      @BGRFamily Місяць тому

      Thanks for watching! It held up well through the winter - it comes with a support pole for the roof for snow in the winter but due to the shape of the roof the snow fell of quickly and didn't build up. It was good to have that piece of mind though. The deck we put it on has been there for years so there was no settling over the winter or anything like that either putting pressure on any of the joints. Overall it survived really well with no concerns and we would definitely get it again. We also got a winter cover for the gazebo that goes over, gets tied to the unit, and then attached to the deck - gave us a great spot to store all the yard stuff through the winter and it was an easy clean up and set up this spring. Highly recommend doing something like that. We did look at the Costco wood gazebos as well but the decision in our heads came down to the dimensions of the gazebo to properly fit the existing deck and the mosquito netting being included and very durable. Hope that helps!

    Do you show how to level it? I dont know how im i supposed to turn the bolt?

    • @BGRFamily
      @BGRFamily Місяць тому

      Under the main mast assembly / motor housing there are 4 feet - they can be turned to adjust level - turning them clockwise will make the foot go closer to the assembly and lowering that corner closer to the floor. Turn counter clockwise to extend the foot further from the assembly and raising that corner further from the floor. You basically have to put the treadmill in the location you need, take a level and check left to right level and then front to back. Essentially set the level near the edge on each of the 4 sides and adjust the feet up and down until you get the assembly level in all directions. There really isn't any way to level the deck where the wheels are - you pretty much have to have a good level surface to begin with or in some cases use something like a thin piece of wood to adjust height. Be careful there though to use something wide and stable so that the treadmill wheels don't fall off whatever you are using. Sorry for the fairly rushed response, but I hope it helps.

    Good review. I juts broke the deck on my proform. This is the one I’m leaning on. I like that it has built in leveling feet which apparently is uncommon on treadmills under 2k. Hopefully this one will last as I’m a bigger guy at 260 and run usually at a speed of 7-8.

    • @BGRFamily
      @BGRFamily 2 місяці тому

      Hope it works out for you. With a similar size and run speeds, I have broken the deck on treadmills from this brand as well. But these decks are an easy replacement at least. Our last treadmill was a Nordictrack which is under the same umbrella as proform, and it was awful to change the deck on.

      @@BGRFamily Thanks for your response! Just to pick your mind a bit more if you don't mind. Would you say the Horizon 7.4 would be worth the upgrade for the price with the stronger motor, heavier weight capacity and longer warranty?

    • @BGRFamily
      @BGRFamily 2 місяці тому

      Honestly, we wanted to go with the 7.4 for the wider deck as well as for the other items you mention, but when we were buying the 7.4 was out of stock. That and we got the 7.0 on a deal that was $400-500 off at the time and the 7.4 didn't have the same deal listed even if it was in stock. That would have been hard to justify the price difference. I think for most people the extra year of labor is definitely worth something, but the real selling point for the 7.4 for me is the extra 2 years of parts even without the labor. Being decently handy, I find this brand to be pretty straight forward to install new parts so the extra 2 years of being able to keep it running is worth a fair bit to me. Hope that helps!

    I watched your video a few times. I never got a notification to lube the belt. I only had treadmill for 2 months. For some reason the belt keeps sliding to the left. I didn’t count the turns, when tightening it. I lubed it but it slowly slides.

    • @BGRFamily
      @BGRFamily 3 місяці тому

      I think there could be a few reasons why that occurs, but if you did adjust the belt, it is likely that some minor adjustments need to be done. If it slow slides to the left, either the left side is too loose or the right side is too tight. I would likely start with the assumption the left side is too loose and go from there. To correct it, you need to turn the left bolt clockwise to tighten up the left side. Turn it about a quarter turn and test, and continue until it stays steady and doesn't drift. After you do that, I would check to see how tight the belt is overall - if it seems extremely tight and stretched, I would back loosen both sides an equal amount and check everything again. It can be a bit finicky to get everything lined up properly, which is the main reason I generally lube the belt now without loosening everything. ua-cam.com/video/o4iTK-YBV7w/v-deo.html Hope that helps!

    Hello, the cover is glass which makes me worry about whether the arms will stick when it's hot or it could be very cold when it's winter. Another thing I need to know is if you can anchor an arm for a screen since it must be pressed against the desk and it has a glass cover that can break. In addition, it only supports 110 pounds or 45 kilos, which is not enough if I want to lean on it since it could damage the motor or the structure. Please guide me if they are good or a normal electric one is better?

    • @BGRFamily
      @BGRFamily 5 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching! We have it right next to a big window and here in the Canadian winter we don't have any issues with it feeling too cold or sticking too much in the heat of the summer. That being said, anything glass will have those kinds of problems more than a wood surface will no matter what. I personally would not try to use a monitor arm or any kind of clamp on the edge of the desk - there is a small gap between the glass and the metal frame underneath it, if you tighten too much, you could shatter the glass. There would likely be ways to prevent that (like putting some kind of firm cushioning material between the glass and the frame would work - but I haven't tried as our use case doesn't need any kind of attachment like that). For the weight limit - there is definitely no concern with the frame holding considerably more weight than the rating, it is very strong. The glass and the motor might be a concern but just leaning on the table is likely also not really an issue, as you rarely would put your full weight on the desk. Additionally the official website currently lists 175 pounds as the weight limit as did the box when we received it - you can see the rated capacities at approx 3:45 in the video. We love ours for how we are using it and we have had no issues in the 2 years we have had it. It does sound like for your use case though, you might be wanting a wood or hard surface instead. Hope that helps!

    Hi there. Watched your 7 week video and thought you two were wonderful. Thank you for your sincerity. I'm going back and forth about purchasing the 7.0 or the7.4. Considering the 7.4 because of its Sprint 8 program. It sounds like you both do HIIT, could you share with me if you easily program HIIT using the two buttons on side of sticks or do you wish you had the Sprint 8 option - preset HIIT workouts. Thank you. And for your thoroughness!! Happy New Year and keep on keeping on.

    • @BGRFamily
      @BGRFamily 5 місяців тому

      Hi there, thanks for watching! I don't have any experience with the Sprint 8 program so I can't really do a real comparison myself. There are some parts of doing it manually with two side buttons that a program could help make easier for sure. Here is what we do: 1. start the treadmill and get it to up to one of the two speeds that you want to program, usually I do the slower speed first and press and hold the left button until the get the acknowledgement that the setting is programmed 2. get up to the second speed (higher speed for me) and I then press and hold the right button until the setting is saved. 3. I then start my work out and use a short press on whichever side button I need. This does work for us, but it can be a bit fiddly to get the higher speed button set to what you want if you are really pushing it at the higher setting. It can also be a bit tricky to get the lower speed setting button to trigger when you are pushing it as well - since you hit the button with your thumb while holding the grip it means at the higher pace run, you need to grab on and then hit the button - can be tricky for sure. Alternative there though is to use the speed roller on the right stick to quickly bring you speed down to a safer speed to grab the handle and hit the button. Hope that helps!

Im tryna get a better idea of how much floor space I need, and also how many mats to purchase lol. 2)How much space do the rods take up when they're being used? So like @29:09 what's the maximum width from end to end?

    Great videos! I am debating between this model and the 7.4. Leaning towards the 7.0 because it occupies less space, weighs less (second floor install) and overall cost ($600 USD less than 7.4 out the door). Do you think you would have run into your belt and deck issues with the larger 7.4? Have you run into any more belt or deck issues after your 10 months? Any other repairs needed? Would you still recommend the unit?

    • @BGRFamily
      @BGRFamily 7 місяців тому

      We do still recommend the treadmill - no additional issues beyond what was in the video have occurred. The thicker deck might have helped with the original deck/belt issues but the original issue was really due to a too focused wear down in one spot - so, I don't think it would have made much of difference in the end. In the end, we don't regret getting the 7.0 and if you were restricted in space and the ability to get the treadmill to where you need it to go, I personally would lean to the 7.0 for your use case. Hope that helps!

    Any updates on this tripod mount? I really like the idea of having wheels under a tv stand, so I can easily roll it into the other room, but I haven't found a tv stand that looked sturdy/balanced enough for me to trust buying it. I always look at the 1-star reviews and I've seen lots of reviews where people's tv's fell over; not just with this tv stand, but most tv stands. Is the stand and all of its components metal?

      This one is full metal and the tripod system works well as long as you set the legs far enough apart. We have left the tv on the stand in some fairly strong winds without any issue. No wheels for easy moving like you are thinking about, but for our use case we absolutely did not want wheels - we didn't want to see the tv wander across the deck and go for a swim. We do have a stand with wheels in my home office that is very robust and sturdy. We didn't do a video on it but it works well. www.amazon.ca/Monoprice-Select-Mount-Bracket-Stand/dp/B01MQ5IRFA/ref=sxts_rp_s_a_1_0?content-id=amzn1.sym.b1c7477a-9059-4058-bf59-98698ca33107%3Aamzn1.sym.b1c7477a-9059-4058-bf59-98698ca33107&crid=2P8PA75JXK5ST&cv_ct_cx=monoprice+tv+stand&keywords=monoprice+tv+stand&pd_rd_i=B01MQ5IRFA&pd_rd_r=d1814e11-ce5c-4992-a036-b023cd9f6fa4&pd_rd_w=HqV9o&pd_rd_wg=lbpz2&pf_rd_p=b1c7477a-9059-4058-bf59-98698ca33107&pf_rd_r=6YT81E146CSMT3MQE8XD&qid=1698118590&sbo=RZvfv%2F%2FHxDF%2BO5021pAnSA%3D%3D&sprefix=monoprice+tv+%2Caps%2C110&sr=1-1-8bd95071-f8a7-4488-8227-92d9fc48e34a&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.b06bdbbe-20fd-4ebc-88cf-fa04f1ca0da8

    Thanks for the tips - I have a different treadmill but I think I broke it when loosening the belt to lubricate. I've had it for 9 months but it just recently started playing up, it is such a hassle loosening the belt, I assume that is what messed it up. Luckily they've sent me a new one so I shall follow your method and hope I can get away without loosening - thanks! 👍

    To turn off lube Belt message, for number 7.4 model, hold number 12 speed button and stop Button for 5 seconds. No one mentions that..Your Welcome...:p)

      For the 7.0AT and older versions of the 7.4AT: Simultaneously hold down the Speed up button on the console near the middle dial and the Stop button for 5-7 seconds. For 7.4AT-04 Treadmills: 1. Update the console to the newest software. 2. Hold Speed Key 12 and the Stop button simultaneously for 5 seconds to clear the message.

    hey this is random but i’m trying to pull the cage off one of these (where i work) in order to clean the cage/blades. i can’t figure out how it comes apart though. i’ve tried googling but can’t find anything about it. i’ve removed the screws around the outside but i’m afraid to yank on the cage or force the knob… any advice?

      Hey there - I had to go take a look just to see, and it doesn't look super straight forward and there are no instructions in the manual either. Best I can see is that you remove the screw holding the metal band that wraps around the two cage parts - I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like this would then allow you to pull down on the lower part of the cage to separate the upper part of the cage from the lower part and band. But I do also see that there are spaced clips that are screwed into the band every few inches, if those clips are too tight, you might not be able to pull the two sides apart easily. That would then likely require loosening the screws for each those clips. But, that is just and educated guess, unfortunately. Hope it helps...and good luck!

      I have same fan you have. I did unscrewed the band and unscrewed 8 screws off around the cages... still I unable to open the bottom cage at all because the dial low/med/high is probably glued on. Crazy!!!
